The Lower East Side of Manhattan is home to a large population of elderly Holocaust survivors, many of whom live below the poverty level. UJCES offers a wide range of social services and support to help them improve and maintain their quality of life.

Our Case Workers have over 15 years of experience in this program and are specially trained in trauma care to effectively work with the particular needs of our survivor population.

Assistance includes but is not limited to: tailored case management for homebound individuals, crisis intervention, counseling, government benefits and entitlements, housing advocacy, immigration aid, representation in Fair Hearings, and more.

Holocaust survivors will also be enrolled in one of our pantries to receive Kosher groceries at home on a monthly basis, as well as special food deliveries during Passover.

We're Here for Them and You Can Be Too

Since our beginning in 1971, caring and looking after Holocaust Survivors has been at the heart of our mission. And now more than ever, when this population has reached old age, we are deeply committed to making sure that they live their remaining time in good health and good spirit.

At UJCES, we serve nearly one hundred Holocaust Survivors. We deliver food packages to their doors; we make sure that they receive medical care and that they live in a safe, dignified place; we visit them and call them on a constant basis to check on their wellness; and we remain watchful to any help or service that they might need.

It's our privilege and our pleasure to have the opportunity to serve these extraordinary women and men.

If you wish to support our efforts to ensure the well-being of the Holocaust survivor population in the Lower East Side, please consider making a donation.
