UJCES Housing Programs

As part of our commitment to assess and respond to the changing needs of all New Yorkers, we sponsor two Housing Programs for individuals in vulnerable circumstances.

IMPORTANT:

Our Housing Programs can only handle cases referred to us by specific government agencies. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide assistance to walk-ins, individuals who contact us directly, or any other types of referrals.

Housing Navigation

In February 2022 UJCES, funded by the New York City Department of Housing, Preservation and Development, launched the Housing Navigator Program to provide housing search assistance to people who are prioritized for federal Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV).

Through this program, Housing Navigators assist clients who have an EHV with identifying, applying for, leasing, and moving into units. Housing Navigators work with their clients to identify appropriate units based on affordability, family size, and safety that are provided by reputable landlords.

Housing Navigators also assist clients to port their vouchers if they wish to move to a new region as well.

As of December 2022, our Housing Navigation Program has helped over 80 clients move into new apartments with dozens in the process of obtaining their own place too.

“Many, many thank yous for being of invaluable assistance helping me with my housing search. Grateful, thankful, sincere.”

Henry Street SRO

Henry Street SRO is a supportive, congregate housing residence and program. It is maintained by UJCES for 22 formerly homeless men and women, with the goal of creating a stable environment for qualifying vulnerable adults in need.

The residence has private rooms with shared living suites thus encouraging community and mutual support among tenants, and the location offers access to an array of services and affordable independent activities for its tenants.

The program also provides on-site staff and case management support services to assist residents with living as independently as possible while in a residential setting.
